How to Play SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom
Quick start
Press START, begin a game and select Chapter 1, then level 1-1, When Robots Attack. The handheld edition is a 2D puzzle-platform game: explore the level, collect all three Golden Spatulas and use the warp gate they open. Blow bubbles at robots, hold A after jumping to float over wide gaps, and crawl through low routes to find hidden items. The 20 Krabby Patties in a regular level are optional, but collecting the complete set opens its bonus level, so check side passages before leaving.
Controls
On foot, move with Left/Right on the Control Pad. Press Up to look or use doors and ladders, and Down to crouch; hold Down with Left/Right to crawl. A jumps, and holding A after take-off lets SpongeBob float. B blows a bubble or talks to friends when prompted. START pauses. Press Down beside Mystery to mount; whilst riding, A jumps and can be held to hover, B chomps or spits a captured enemy, and R dismounts. The unicycle and Invisible Boatmobile move automatically; press A to jump and hold it after take-off for extra air.
