Press START, begin a game, and choose Chapter 1, then level 1-1, When Robots Attack. This GBA version is a 2D puzzle-platform game: explore the whole stage, collect all three Golden Spatulas, and enter the warp gate they unlock. Blow bubbles to handle robots, hold A after jumping to float across longer gaps, and crouch or crawl into low passages. Twenty Krabby Patties are optional in each regular level, but collecting the complete set unlocks its bonus level, so search side routes when it is safe.

On foot, press Left/Right on the D-pad to move, Up to look or to use doors and ladders, and Down to crouch; hold Down with Left/Right to crawl. A jumps, and holding A after the jump makes SpongeBob float. B blows a bubble and is also used to talk to friends when prompted. START pauses. Beside Mystery, press Down to mount; while riding, A jumps and can be held to hover, B chomps or spits a captured enemy, and R dismounts. In the unicycle and Invisible Boatmobile sections, movement is automatic and A jumps; hold it after takeoff for extra air.
