Press START at the title screen, choose Pro Tour Career, select a professional or created skater, and enter The Foundry, the only park open at first. Each career run lasts two minutes; a practical first target is the 10,000-point High Score goal. Hold B to build speed, release it to ollie, add a direction plus L for a flip or a direction plus R for a grab, then press A beside a rail to grind. Link a grind to an Up-Down manual, or land a quarter-pipe trick with R for a revert, so the multiplier continues instead of banking several small scores. The Foundry also contains S-K-A-T-E, five jammed valves and other goals, so watch the opening fly-through before choosing a route.

Menus: use the D-Pad to highlight options, A to choose, and B to go back; L and R rotate a skater in Create-A-Skater. During a run, Left and Right turn, Down brakes, holding B crouches and gains speed, and releasing B ollies. After an ollie, a direction plus L performs a flip trick, a direction plus R performs a grab, and a direction plus A grinds a rail or performs a lip trick at a ramp edge. Up then Down starts a manual; Down then Up starts a nose manual. R on the ground changes switch stance, while R as you land an air trick on a quarter pipe, half pipe or pool performs a revert. Ollie toward a wall and press A to wallride, then B to wallie out; press A behind a moving car to grab it and B to let go. START pauses. SELECT has no assigned gameplay action.
