Moving toward food is not always the same as moving toward safety, because a clear corridor can still lead into an approaching pursuer. Large power pellets briefly reverse the relationship, letting you eat vulnerable ghosts for increasing rewards rather than run away. That window is temporary, so chasing a bonus too far can leave you stranded when the ghosts recover. The side tunnel offers another route across the board, while fruit adds optional scoring opportunities near the center. Clearing the remaining corners often becomes the real test of a round. Planning an escape before entering a dead end is more useful than simply following the nearest line of dots.
