Press START or A at the title screen, enter a name and choose a gender; R supplies a random name on the entry screen. A fresh file begins with Wario's introductory set, while a saved file can use Games > Wario. Read each brief command, then respond with the Control Pad, A, or both. Clear the first nine microgames and then defeat the Sparring Wario boss before four misses end the attempt. The pace rises after 3 and 6 clears, so read the command first and avoid treating every game as an A-button test.

Menus: Control Pad to choose, A to confirm, B to cancel. Normal microgames use the Control Pad for movement, aiming or steering and A for the prompted action; a game may require a tap, hold, release or rapid presses. B has no normal microgame function. START pauses, then A or START confirms Continue/Exit and B backs out. R gives a random name during name entry, while L/R can fast-forward some displays. Once unlocked, two-player VS subgames share one GBA: Player 1 uses L and Player 2 uses R. The Grid's scrolling description states the exact input for each discovered microgame.
