Press START or A on the title screen to choose your name and gender. If you press R while entering a name, you can select a registered name using the roulette wheel. The first time you play, you start with Wario's "first stage," and if you have save data, you can select Wario from "Game" on the main menu. Read the short commands that appear right before each mini game and use the D-pad and A button to instantly accomplish them. At first, a boss stage appears after 9 mini-games, and your goal is to clear the boss before failing 4 times. The speed will increase when you clear the 3rd or 6th time, so it will be more stable if you prioritize checking commands and the screen rather than hitting repeatedly.

In the menu, use the cross button to select an item, press A to confirm, and press B to return. In normal petit games, the cross button is for movement, aiming, and direction control, and A is for actions according to commands, including press, repeat, long press, and release. B is not used during normal petit games. Pause with START, confirm "CONTINUE/EXIT" with A or START, and cancel with B. When entering the name, press R to input it automatically. L/R is used to fast-forward some displays, and in the single-vehicle battle sub-game after the ban is lifted, 1P is operated with L and 2P is operated with R.
