At the title screen choose NEW GAME and press A. Enter a name of up to eight characters: crosshair to select, A to enter, B to delete, L/R to move the text cursor and, when finished, START and A on OK. After Yugi and Joey visit your house, go out to Clock Tower Square. Face Yugi, Mai, Bonz, Weevil and Mako and press R to talk to each duelist; Return to the center to activate the start of the tournament at 9:00. The first big objective is to win six locator cards and qualify for the final. Save often by pressing A in front of your home computer, as there is no auto-save.

Field/menus: crosshair to move or choose; hold B plus one direction to run at double speed. A speaks, examines and confirms; B cancels/returns; R challenges the character in front of you to a duel; START or SELECT opens the duelist menu. Deck/Trunk: Up/Down scrolls, Left/Right transfers the chosen card, R advances groups of 50 in the Trunk or 10 in the Deck, L changes the information, START opens the sort and SELECT changes the order. Duel: D-pad moves the cursor, A opens orders/confirms, B opens submenu/cancels, L held shows ATK/DEF and R reports the opponent's hand. A on the home computer saves the game.
