On the title screen, choose NEW GAME then validate with A. Enter a name of up to eight characters: directional cross to choose, A to enter, B to clear, L/R to move the input cursor, then START and A to OK. After Yugi and Joey visit your house, go out to Clock Tower Square. Stand in front of Yugi, Mai, Bonz, Weevil and Mako and press R to talk to each; return to the center to trigger the 9 a.m. opening. Your first general objective is to earn six location cards to advance to the finals. Back up manually with A on your home computer.

Terrain/menus: directional cross to move or choose; hold B with a direction to run twice as fast. A speaks, examines and validates; B cancels/returns; R challenges the character placed in front of you; START or SELECT opens the duelist menu. Deck/Chest: Top/Bottom cycles through the cards, Left/Right transfers the selected card, R advances in groups of 50 in the Chest or 10 in the Deck, L changes the information, START opens the sort and SELECT changes the order. Duel: cross for the cursor, A for commands/validation, B for the submenu/cancellation, L maintained displays ATK/DEF, R provides information on the opposing hand. A on the home computer allows you to save.
